SameSky Health: IMPACT HIGHLIGHT
IMPACT THESIS
A patient engagement platform that connects culturally diverse populations, who are often non-native English speakers, to health navigators that have a shared cultural background for health advice, education, and other services will increase utilization of the healthcare system, reduce the overall cost of healthcare, and create better healthcare outcomes.
multicultural patients able to navigate healthcare during covid via SameSky Health
The American healthcare system is largely considered antiquated, confusing, and overwhelming - particularly to non-native English speakers. Consequently, many patients do not seek treatment early enough, resulting in higher long-term costs. SameSky Health aims to address this problem through its multi-channel messaging application, which engages with patients across 20+ languages and cultures.
In response to the coronavirus pandemic, health providers utilized SameSky Health’s technology to communicate accurate healthcare information to their multicultural patients. Between March and May, SameSky Health delivered over 11 million messages pertaining to COVID. In addition to protecting the health of underserved communities, this communication reduced overcrowding in hospitals by generating 35,000 telehealth appointments.
