Last month, IE CIO Priya Parrish joined 120 social sector leaders, entrepreneurs, investors, and academics for "Impact Investing: Aligning Profit and Purpose to Change the World", an event hosted by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Programme on Social Innovation at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Inspired by her book "The Little Book of Impact Investing", the conversation explored how investors can create a more sustainable and equitable society using impact investing as a tool, and what to consider when developing impact goals.
Jetty, the financial services provider for renters, merged with Rhino, another pioneer of security deposit insurance. The two companies together will form the largest security deposit platform in the United States rental housing market, working with 47 of the NMHC's top 100 property owners. "Security deposit alternatives have become a central part of leasing and key to our ability to maintain velocity and keep occupancy high. Our renters love this" says Highmark Residential Operations head Gina Glorioso. Both Rhino and Jetty plan to continue offering their existing services.
Circuit, the local electric shuttle service operating in over 40 US cities, recently closed its $17M Series B. Circuit's shared microtransit services act as a connector to address transit deserts while reducing traffic congestion, reducing vehicle miles traveled, preventing GHG emissions, and lowering household transportation costs. Over the past year, the company has moved over 1.9 million passengers using 100% electric vehicles and avoiding more than 1,050 metric tons of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
