Higher ed is under stress right now

We're excited to share our latest investment: Core Education Services

Higher-education institutions in the US are facing significant headwinds causing operational and financial sustainability challenges. Students at colleges that close are significantly impacted: more than 50% of students who are at a college that closes do not complete their education elsewhere, and 40M Americans have some college experience but not a degree, contributed to, in part, by closures.

Core Education is a mission-critical operating partner and specialized services provider focused on transforming higher education institutions. Read more about why we invested in Core Education.

Amit Bouri, co-founder and CEO of the Global Impact Investing Network (GIIN) recently sat down with IE CEO Jessica Droste Yagan for a conversation about how we think about impact investing today and the future of our industry.

"It's more than just, I need to solve problems for other people like gender inequality" she says, "But rather recognizing that if we aren't investing in some things like in reducing inequality, addressing climate change, the whole world economy will suffer."

Blume Equity, the UK-based climate tech fund investment of ours, was recently announced as a Real Deals Sustainable Investment Award finalist in two categories: Environmental Impact Investor of the Year and Deal of the Year. The latter distinction recognizes Blume's successful exit of energy measurement devices company Sensorfact, which was acquired by European electrical engineering heavyweight ABB earlier this year.
